The course will be held again in Ballymena North, Cushendall Road, Ballymena and will commence on 16 September 2019.

This is the third course to be run in Ballymena and I'm delighted that there are so many people who share my enjoyment of researching their family history.

Recent years has seen a vast amount of Irish genealogy records being made available online which is great news for the genealogist. However, knowing what records there are, where to go to find those records, how can we be sure we've got the right family, which sites are the best to use, what is the best value for money, etc can be a bit of a headache and of course, not everything is available in one place.

In addition to the Irish records that are now online, there is still a huge array of records that are useful to the family historian in various archives and repositories around the country.

On the Genealogy Evening Course we will look at a wide range of records, many of which are freely available and that will help you to build your family tree.

Perhaps you're one of the millions of people worldwide who have taken a DNA test, but aren't sure about what the results are telling you or maybe you need advice about which test to take? If so, I provide an Introduction to DNA module on the course that will help you get to grips with the subject.

The Genealogy: Researching Your Family History Evening Course consists of 10 evenings in the classroom and in addition, a visit will be arranged to the Public Records Office Northern Ireland (PRONI) where many records useful to the family historian are held, such as for example, church records, school records, workhouse, tithes, land valuation records, etc.

Feedback from September 2018 and March 2019 course attendees is shown in the short videos on this blog. More information about the course is shown on Courses and Talks menu tab.

If you're stuck for a present for the person who has everything, Gift Vouchers are also available for a place on the 2019 course.
