GENEALOGY TALK – A VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE MAJOR ARCHIVES
I’m looking forward to delivering a talk to the Ballymena Branch of the North of Ireland Family History Society (NIFHS) on Thursday 29 October, entitled, ‘A Virtual Tour of the Major Archives.’
With closures and restrictions still in place our genealogy research can suffer. However, many of the major archives have a substantial amount of information available online and this talk will take us on a short tour so that we can see the range of material available. The talk will concentrate on material that is useful for searching Irish ancestors and Northern Irish ancestors.
The archives that we will cover are:
· Public Records Office Northern Ireland (PRONI)
· The National Archives of Ireland
· The National Archives (Kew)
· The National Library of Ireland
· The Registry of Deeds
We will also cover finding aids for locating useful documents held in other archives throughout the country.
The talk is open to all members and associate members of the NIFHS and will be held via Zoom. Please see the programme for details of how to join the talk.
